Why do you recommend Smarkets?
There are numerous betting exchanges which we could use: Smarkets, Betfair, Ladbrokes, Betdaq and Matchbook. Smarkets and Betfair have the best liquidity which means most people opt to go with one or the other. However, Smarkets only charge 2% commission as opposed to 5% at Betfair, Ladbrokes, Betdaq and Matchbook. Most find the user interface on Smarkets to be superior and the website as a whole more intuitive to use too.
It is worth noting that there are some markets that are not available on Smarkets. These are rarely relevant and are less popular markets (for example, the ‘Top European’ in a golf event). In these cases Betfair is the best option. If any offers occur which cannot be done using Smarkets this will be referenced in the offer’s post.
Another issue is that Paddy Power and Betfair are now part of the same company so placing against bets for Paddy Power offers on Betfair is a sure way to get flagged as a matched bettor. The same goes for Ladbrokes. Given that we will very rarely place an against bet that is a round number (an obvious sign of a matched bettor or an arber) it is good pratice to avoid these altogether where possible to keep our Paddy Power and Ladbrokes bookmaker accounts open.
